Entering My First Linky Party

One of the blogs I stalk frequently visit, is Tea Rose Home where Sachiko always has some wonderfully creative hand crafted clothing for you to see and make.

Her latest creations were doll clothes she made for her little girl.  That brought back memories for me of the clothes I used to make for my daughter and her “MyTwinn” doll when she was little.

Now, as she gets ready to set off for college (her sophomore year), I decided to dig out the outfits (mostly made for either Halloween of for the summer of 2000.

The first creations for Samantha and her “My Twinn” were really ambitious for fist trials…She was a fan of “Rose” from “Titanic”, so naturally I had to make the “jump” dress for her. I used a store bought adult pattern, scaled down for Samantha’s dress, then reduced and reduced and reduced the pattern pieces again and again for her doll.

 Alas, she is long past playing with dolls, and I am experiencing mixed emotions. for she is a beautiful young woman, who has worked hard against the many obstacles that have been placed in her way.

 

I could not be more proud of her!

Diamond in the Rough

I LOVE finding diamonds…don’t you? While out at my favorite second hand or as the car makers like to call it, “Certified Previously Owned”

(like “used” can  needs to be made desirable)

I found this UGLY (with a capital U) picture wrapped in this equally ugly Bee-right Gold frame…ARGH

The “painting” turned out to be a poster, glued to foam-core and then over-brushed with acrylic gel medium.  But as I had seen all the chalk boards being created in blog-land…I decided to make one as well.

I know, not to original…but….

I took the “painting” out and ran to HD to get a piece of masonite cut. Can you believe the guy at HD LIKED the “painting”, asked if I painted it (OMG). I smiled sweetly and said….”hmmmmm….no…”

After a little spray chalk board paint, and leftover black acrylic paint rubbed-on-rubbed-off..this is the finished product.

(please ignore the ugly phone…one day it will go away, but right now I have a hubby who hasn’t embraced a cell phone yet)

 

Bling For Your Belly

Although the handcrafted belt buckles are now located up at Coyote Cowboy on Main St. in Grapevine, I wanted to show you how beautifully they were displayed at the Good Sheppard Catholic Church’s “An Afternoon in Paris” shopping promenade.

I thought I did an excellent job…

possibly too excellent…

the ladies LOVED the buckles…all thought they were very unique…

however

they LOVED the display more as well.

So the question is…Can you over display products? I was only trying to make them “appetizing”!
